AAC in School and In Movies

I believe that every person should have access to education and employment. When children are segregated in schools from their peers, it sends the message that there is a “place” for people who don’t look the same, who don’t learn the same, who don’t talk the same, who don’t play the same. These ideas must change.

One way to defeat the idea that there should be a hidden place for the disabled is to show real people living their experiences. Creating more stories, television shows, and movies is one way to do this. It’s incredibly important to see characters who are living their lives as part of the story. One story I recommend reading with your kids is “Out of My Mind”
